In the last few days, I have been reflecting on how often life is described as a journey of ups and downs, and I can certainly speak to that truth. Throughout my life, I have faced countless moments when I found myself on my knees, fighting to persevere, and struggling to keep moving forward.
There were sleepless nights, endless tears, and waves of frustration that became familiar companions on my path. Yet one thing remains certain: I would not trade any of those experiences for the ease of a smoother road.
My journey has taught me something profound. Everything happens for a reason. Everything happens for me. Through trials and tribulations, I have been forging a stronger, wiser version of myself. Every twist and turn has had its purpose.
I have often heard the words, “You will be okay, you are so strong.” What many do not see is that behind the strength is someone deeply soft and sensitive. It was the weight of life’s events that demanded I become tough, resilient, and unbreakable.
What I often needed most was not to be told I am strong, but to be seen. To be heard. To have someone say, “I feel you, I hear you.” To have my emotions acknowledged rather than hidden behind the mask of invincibility.
The truth is, there were many times when life’s challenges could have destroyed me, drowned me, or left me shattered. But survival was never a choice. It was the only option. Rising above, summoning courage, carrying on with an unwavering smile, and using every resource within me became my way forward.
That does not mean there are no days when getting out of bed feels impossible, when my smile hides, and I wonder how I will face the day. Yet somehow, I always find a way. I always figure it out. I never lose sight of the light.
Life has taught me that our greatest potential is unlocked in the fire within us, in the passion that drives us, and in the magic that resides in our souls. Each day I remind myself to seek joy and to pursue happiness, knowing these experiences are never far away. They are always waiting to be found.
In the toughest times, what truly matters shines the brightest. These are the things that remain when everything else falls away.
Nothing happens to you. Everything happens through you. Everything happens for you. And you alone hold the power to decide what to do with it.
